핵자기공명(NMR)을 이용하여 물질의 자기적 특성을 주로 연구하고 있다.

언어학에서 구문론과 자연어처리 분야를 연구하였으며, 한국어와 영어의 구문분석 (-자연어처리) 현상을 비교한 연구로 미국 메릴랜드 주립대학에서 박사학위를 받았음. 최근에는 영어의 상 (aspect) 에 관한 연구, 그리고 한국어의 주어표시 조사에 관한 연구를 수행하고 있음. 천재교육과 능률교육에서 중학교, 고등학교 영어교과서를 집필하였으며, 중등교원 임용고시 출제위원과 검토위원을 여러 차례 역임하였음.

I majored in syntax and natural language processing in the graduate school of the University of Maryland. I received Ph.D there and have been doing the research in the field of syntax and semantics. My recent interest is aspectual classification of English verbs and subject case marking in Korean. I have written middle school and highschool English textbooks a couple of times, and I have also been a member of the exam boards for the national selection test for English teachers. 

본인은 2008년 펜실베니아 주립대(PSU)에서 천연물 전합성 연구로 박사 학위를 받았고, KIST(1995~2002)와 Scripps연구소(2008~2011)에서 의약화학 및 천연물 전합성 연구를 10년 이상 진행한 바 있다. 2011년 가톨릭대에 임용된 이후에는 팔라듐 촉매를 이용한 신규 합성 방법 개발 연구를 주로 하고 있다. 특히 초기 신약개발 단계에서 필요한 다양한 저분자 물질 확보에 유용한 다양성 지향 합성 개념에 충실하도록 다단계 반응을 묶어서 한번의 반응으로 가능하게 하는 직렬 반응 연구에 중점을 두고 있다. 개발된 합성 방법을 활용하여 확보된 헤테로 고리 화합물들은 실제 생리활성 시험을 통해 SERM, IL6 활성 저해 후보 물질로 의약화학적 후속 연구를 진행하고 있으며, 직렬 반응을 이용한 효율적 천연물 전합성 연구도 함께 진행하고 있다. 

In 2008, I received Ph. D. degree from Pennsylvania State University (PSU) with research about total synthesis of natural product. Also I have worked several institutes, such as KIST (Korea Institute of Science & Technology: 1995~2002) and TSRI (The Scripps Research Institute: 2008~2011), where I performed research related with various new drug development projects and total synthesis of complex natural products. Since starting independent research career at The Catholic University of Korea (CUK) in 2011, I have mainly focused on the research of novel synthetic method development utilizing palladium-catalyzed reaction. Especially, I interested in tandem and/or one-pot reactions, which converts multi-step reactions into a single reaction. These types of reactions have the advantage of facilitating the approach to various heterocyclic compounds, which is needed for early stage of new drug development research. The compounds obtained from methodolgy research have been tested for biological activities and utilized in subsequent medicinal chemistry research, such as for SERMs and IL6 inhibitors. Total synthesis of natural products has also been studied and recently finished synthesis of cyclopiamide A.

애니메이션 이론을 중심으로 콘텐츠 제작, 기획을 주로 연구하고 있다. 2003년 Academy of Art University(San Francisco) Computer Arts전공 석사, 2012년 중앙대학교 첨단영상대학원에서 애니메이션이론을 전공으로 영상예술학 박사를 받았다. 한국 만화 애니메이션 연구를 선도하는 한국만화애니메이션학회 회장, 부천국제애니메이션페스티벌조직위원장, 한국방송통신위원회 국내애니메이션인정 위원회 위원장, 한국만화영상진흥원 이사, 조달청 전문평가 위원으로 활동 중이다. 

I mainly focus on researching content production and planning centered around animation theory. I obtained a Master's degree in Computer Arts from the Academy of Art University (San Francisco) in 2003, and a Ph.D. in Visual Arts with a specialization in Animation Theory from Chung-Ang University's Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia & Film in 2012. I am actively engaged in various roles, serving as the President of the Korean Society for Animation Studies, the Organizing Committee Chair of the Bucheon International Animation Festival, the Chairman of the Domestic Animation Recognition Committee of the Korea Communications Commission, a Director of the Korea Animation Industry Promotion Agency, and a Special Evaluation Committee Member of the Public Procurement Service.

가톨릭대학교 성심교정 전체 교양과목을 담당하고 있는 학부대학의 학장. 종교학과 학과장 겸임.
학부대학 과목으로는 디자인 학년제의 I-Design과 Career Design 담당, 필수 교양 과목으로는 그리스도교 사상과 문화, 인간학, 사랑 나누기, 키스톤 디자인 과목 담당.
매년 여름 방학 가톨릭대학교 국제 봉사단 지도, 파견. 까리타스 학생 봉사단 담당.
종교학과 과목으로는 성경 문헌 연구(성경 희랍어-히브리어 문법), 세계 공의회사, 그리스도론, 삼위일체론, 교회론, 기초 신학 등을 담당 및 졸업 논문 지도 연구.
연구분야로는 교의신학과 성경문헌 연구 등 신학과 종교학 분야 그리고 기초신학 환경생태학 등 환경 생태분야 연구.
