약독물의 약동학 및 대사경로 구명, 약물 뿐아니라 사회문제가 되는 신종마약류의 다양한 bioanalysis 분석법 및 약물상호작용 연구와 지질대사체학 및 단백질체학 등의 통합적 오믹스 연구시스템의 연구기반을 구축하여 대사체학과 단백질체학을 이용한 질병 관련한 생체지표 개발 연구를 수행해 오고 있으며,  SCI 국제학술지에 250여편의 논문을 발표하였다.  2008년-2013년에 국가지정연구실사업(과제명: 천연물신약의 대사 및 약물상호작용 평가 기술 연구)으로 약동력학, 대사 및 약물상호작용 연구기반과 을 확보하여, 국내 제약회사의 신약개발 연구를 지원하여 현재 시판 중이거나 임상시험 중인 9건의 혁신신약 (자이데나, 슈가논, 엠빅스, 엔블로 등)과 천연물신약 (스티렌, 모틸리톤, 시네츄라시럽 등) 개발에 기여하였다.  국제저명학술지인 Current Analytical Chemistry, Integrative Medicine Research, Pharmaceutics의 편집위원으로 활동 중이며, 과기정통부 장관 표창(2016, 2021), 대한약학회 녹암학술상(2017), 가톨릭대 연구우수상(2016), 가톨릭대 최우수 강의교원(2014) 등을 수상하였다.
Professor Lee acquired B.S., MS, Ph.D. degrees at the College of Pharmacy, Sungkyunkwan University, Korea. I have worked as a senior researcher in Toxicology Research Center, Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology. I also served as professor in College of Pharmacy, Wonkwang University, Korea from 1995 to 2010 and was a dean of College of Pharmacy, Wonkwang University from 2003 to 2005. In 2011, I moved to College of Pharmacy, The Catholic University of Korea and was a dean of College of Pharmacy from 2014 to 2016. I have published 250 peer-reviewed articles in SCIE journals, and my research has focused on analytical toxicology, pharmacokinetics and metabolism of new drug candidates and new psychoactive substances, and in vitro drug interaction. I serve on the Editorial board members of Pharmaceutics, Bioanalysis, Current Analytical Chemistry, Integrative Medicine Research, and Mass Spectrometry Letters.
